our Story

About us

Avery's childhood was filled with summers spent "helping" his grandfather in his woodworking business, fueling Avery's dream of becoming a professional woodworker. In 2020, spurred by the pandemic, Avery made a bold career transition from healthcare to woodworking by establishing Wild Edge Woodcraft, fulfilling his lifelong aspiration.

Since then, Wild Edge Woodcraft has grown into a thriving enterprise with two sawmills, four vacuum kilns, and a bustling millwork shop. The company is committed to sustainability and upcycles urban trees to create stunning pieces that showcase artistry and environmental consciousness. With a team of four employees and four skilled contractors, Avery's unwavering commitment to craftsmanship and conservation is evident in every creation.

Specializing in live-edge dining tables, kitchen islands, bartops, and exquisite fireplace mantels, Wild Edge Woodcraft blends tradition and innovation to create each piece. The company believes in creating connections through distinctive, handmade solid wood furniture crafted from sustainably harvested local trees.

Each piece of furniture created at Wild Edge Woodcraft is one-of-a-kind, telling a story and celebrating every individual's unique style. The company devotes months to creating extraordinary pieces to ensure each is appreciated and cherished for years to come.

Furniture at Wild Edge Woodcraft is not just an item; it's a source of art, beauty, and expression. The company's focus on low-impact, sustainably sourced natural materials helps create distinctive pieces that reflect individual tastes and promote meaningful connections.

The true joy of Wild Edge Woodcraft lies in witnessing customers beam with pride and happiness when they receive their custom pieces. Each creation by the company is an heirloom, a story that will be passed down for generations. Join Wild Edge Woodcraft in bringing your vision to life and creating a piece of furniture that will be cherished for years to come.

If you would like to learn more about the process of turning Urban Trees into fine furniture, you can watch my Webinar for the NC Urban Forest Council. A lot has changed since then, but it’s a good overview of the entire “value stream.”

I’m lucky to work with the love of my life, Shannon!

We moved out of the city and started the farm as a way to stay connected to Nature and teach our three sons self-reliance and life skills.
